Exploring CMF Through AI

This project explores how generative AI tools can support CMF design by turning visual prompts into real-world surface concepts. Inspired by six everyday foods, the project transforms speculative textures into manufacturable CMF palettes using materials such as carbon fiber, resin, mycelium, and resin—bridging digital imagination with physical production.

Materializing the Imagined

The sensations generated by AI resemble memories, but are never quite the same. They are traces of emotion, replicated but not original. I wanted to create a CMF palette that doesn’t physically exist, yet subconsciously evokes a tactile response in the viewer.

What began with skepticism evolved into a creative and manufacturable material exploration—bridging fiction and fabrication through real-world processes. This project shows that, with the right direction, AI doesn’t flatten design. It deepens it.
